Jess has been carving ice for six years and competed in th National Ice Carving Association (NICA) competitions circuit for the last five years.

Jess started carving when he was a child suffering Mononucleosis.  With a sharp pocket knife and training from a neighbor, he began creating wooden art.  One day he saw an ice sculpture at a party that lacked beauty and he thought "I could do better than that."  From that inspiration and a lot of hard work, Jess now owns his own business, "Cool Hands Ice Carving" in Longmont, Colorado.  

When he's not carving ice, Jess enjoys sculpting in stone and paints.
