Sergei Zaplatin is from Ekaterinburg, Russia. He graduated from the Ural Architectural Art Academy in the Decorative Applied Arts in 2001. His major specialty is working in stone. He participated in many international art projects in ice and sand in England, Germany, Belgium, France, Turkey and Jordan.

Sergei is a past competitor with the World Ice Art Championships.  He has competed in the Multi Block Classic twice before.  Placing 1st in 2006 and 2nd in 2009.
